Congo in Harlem 12, from October 16th-31st at Maysles Cinema, 343 Lenox Avenue and 127th Street. Explore the role of Belgian colonization on the current situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Panelists will discuss the ownership of the Congo by King Leopold II at the dawn of the 20th Century and the devastation that he wrought on the masses of Congolese. They will also delve into the more than half century colonization of the Congolese people by the Belgian state and examine the post independence, neo-colonial period.
