Harlem Bespoke: We were always curious about the altered building at 259-261 West 123rd Street by Frederick Douglass Boulevard and wondered what the architecture originally looked like back in the day. An archival photo from the 1940s show a rather stately building that would have have served handsomely as a house of worship. Now there appears to be less windows and the majestic cornice is also missing. Our opinion is always to restore the facade as much as possible since this usually stands the test of time.
