Harlem Bespoke: We noticed on Friday that a lot people were on site at the community garden at 321 West 126th Street just east of St. Nicholas Avenue. It turns out that this was a big compost drop off day and apparently quite a few folks in the neighborhood are participating. Dense garbage landfills produce a third of man-made methane (which are attributed to global warming) in the world while garden compost breaks down without out those destructive gases. Compostable groceries include vegetable scraps, eggshell, houseplants, flowers, breads, grains, pastas, nuts, and loose coffee grounds or tea leaves. So if you want to be more earth-friendly, just check out your local community garden for compost drop off days: LINK
