Harlem Bespoke: We always wondered about the missing roof at the unique triangle building at Riverside Drive and West 157th Street and finally got around to doing some research. There are a few of these addresses uptown with the a triangular lot but some of them have been altered throughout the years.
As can be seen from the archival city files from the 1940s, there was a majestic mansard roof with dormer windows. The cornice was also in line with the adjacent townhouses and that too is now missing these days. With that said the striking columns are at least still intact at the side of the building and there is enough of the original architecture to maybe restore everything to its original grandeur in the years to follow.
