Harlem Bespoke: We were doing some walking around the blocks of 204th Street and Seaman Avenue when an empty lot became visible. There clearly was evidence of a roof from a house that was imprinted on the side of building next door so we ended up doing some research within the city files to see if the original architecture could be revealed. A photo from 1940 or so shows that there were actually to twin homes on the site and that they even stood intact in the 1980s but it is unclear when everything recently was demolished. The matching mirror image porches connect with a side pathway roof was really unique here but there is no landmark protection in this part of Manhattan. DOB permits show that a taller building was planned for the site back in 2019 but things appear to have stalled since then.
