Harlem Bespoke: After being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, the New York Marathon celebrated its 50th Anniversary this past sunday and the energy was definitely in the air this year. We always advised folks to show up just before 10:40 AM to see the leader of the pack and were able to photograph this year's winner Albert Korir of Kenya making his way through the Harlem midpoint of the race.
Since the marathon is Halloween adjacent, there are quite often a lot of costumes on a few of the runners but this year millennials pretty much put on a show with a mosh of current trends. Lots of sunglasses can be seen amongst runners which were quite noticeable since many of them were in contrasting lighter colors that went well with the pale fluorescent running gear that was also quite popular. Hair color was also something very fashionable along with facial hair with an emphasis on the mustache. Athletes used to be a more subdued bunch in the past but now standing out in a bespoke way has become quite fashionable and we approve of this message.
