Harlem Bespoke: Construction started up at 2171 Frederick Douglass Boulevard about 4 years ago and the building finally looks like it will be finishing up. The empty lot at the corner of 117th Street and Frederick Douglass was vacant for as long as most people could remember but a groundbreaking back in 2018 provided some hope that the land would be put to use. We took the above photo last week when the workers were taking down the netting to reveal a mostly finished facade. Disinvestment to this part of Harlem caused a lot of the original building stock to be demolished in the 70s and 80s but that sad history eventually made way for the land to build on in the future. The signage on the shed has commercial space for rent so this is probably a mix-used situation.
