Harlem Bespoke: A gap between buildings uptown with a smaller, modern structure in place usually means that there was probably a 19th century house that was demolished on site at some point in time. We alway wondered what was originally at 876 St. Nicholas Avenue just south of 155th Street and old city photos show that a majestic Victorian Era home was already in shambles during the Depression years. What is also cool about the older images is that posters on the plywood out front advertise for the local theaters such as the Apollo, Regent and Harlem Opera House
