Harlem Bespoke: The Commercial Observer reports some good news for the Alhambra Ballroom building at the corner of West 126th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard. After a full restoration and the arrival of a supermarket on the ground floor, the historic site will now be the second home to a notable dual language charter school from the neighborhood. Some might remember that the New York French American Charter School has another notable address within a former Victorian Era Harlem cigar factory on 120th Street by Frederick Douglass Boulevard only a few blocks south of the Alhambra and it appears that new charter schools are a good adaptive reuse plan for keeping some of the most famous local buildings intact for future generations along with serving the needs of neighborhood families. Classes will start immediately for the Fall 2022 school year since the building is already in pristine condition within. More on the notable French charter school can be found in our past post: LINK
