ARCHITECTURE: ENGINE 84 IN THE HEIGHTS

Harlem Bespoke: One of the grandest Victorian Era fire stations to be found uptown holds court on 161st Street just west of Amsterdam Avenue.  Engine 84 is over a century old since everything finished up back in 1907 and is double the proportions than most stations found uptown.  The only other original building still used by the fire department in Harlem can be found further south at what was formerly the Vinegar Hill neighborhood close to City College: LINK
