READ: ST. JOHN THE DIVINE IN NEW YORK TIMES
Harlem Bespoke: Another New York Times article on the world's largest cathedral just north of 110th Street on Amsterdam Avenue explains that underground waterways are the main reason why the church has only been half finished for 130 years. A massive 445 foot tower was originally envisioned but flowing springs of water made the architectural feet unfeasible. Photos included in the piece show that the crypt below still runs wet from time to time from the unseen movements of underground streams. More on the story in the New York Times: LINK
