☞ SHOP: Best Yet Market is Official on FDB

The rumors have been around since this summer and it is now officially confirmed that a major supermarket will be arriving in South Harlem. We got the tip that the contract has been signed for a Best Yet Market and the ink is dry. Even though the wine boutiques, trendy restaurants and shops line Southern FDB/8th Avenue, families still need their groceries to cook a basic meal. Fairway is a trek further west and Citarella not much closer so Best Yet Market will really be key to the growth of South Harlem as a community. This in the condo building that replaced the open lot on 2195 Frederick Douglas Boulevard, between 118th and 119th Street. Currently a Starbucks and a Chase Bank rent out the corner retail spaces. The Best Yet Market is slated to open by years end. Maybe one will run into Neil Patrick Harris shopping for groceries in the near future. Thank you Bespoke reader, Joseph, for the tip. 2. They seem to be a true supermarket and not too fancy so it should be okay. Such an amazing turn of events especially since its been doom and gloom with new retail elsewhere in the city.

  3. I cannot wait! the market seems fancy enough that it will have fresh produce and seafood, but also seems reasonably priced. I like Pathmark, but sometimes i need to get in and out quickly. C-town doesn't seem too kosher at times. I know my entire building will be pleased!

  4. I hear you on C-Town and Pathmark is a bit of a trek east.

  5. That is fantastic news... Unfortunately C-Town doesn't cut it. Central Market on 110th is a bit of a trek and way too high in price. Westside Market on 110th/Broadway is way out of the way but has everything I need for a great price, wish there was one right in the 'hood... But Best Yet Market seems like it would be a great addition to the neighborhood.

  6. Anyone have a sense of how large the space is going to be?

  7. The article in the link said it was 25,000 square feet total. Is that big or what?
