☞ REVIVE: Catching up with The Balton

The new affordable rental building construction, at West 127th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue, has taken over one of the largest remaining lots in Central Harlem and is coming along nicely. The development called The Balton, broke ground last November and has been picking up the pace recently since most of the foundation work finished a couple of months ago. The 156 unit building will not be finished until Summer 2011 so there's still some time left before this one starts to lease. The top photo shows the corner tower starting to rise in the past week. Central and South Harlem has filled up most of its large parcels of open land with market rate condos in the past years and the recent developments going up now seem to be on the affordable side.
