☞ REVIVE: What's Up with the Candlelight III Bar?
A reader mentioned that the old Candlelight III Bar at 2056 ACP/7th Avenue (just below 123rd Street) recently had a sidewalk shed placed up and was wondering what's up with the commercial space. As one can see from the lower photo, the entire building that is next door to Strictly Roots is entirely abandoned, and from DOB records, it looks like the cornice might be a little loose. The building is owned by HPD and the permit for the shed filed in 2001 (?) does not involve any renovations. Our main question is why hasn't this property that consist of 2 buildings been passed over to a developer? Nine years is a long time for the property to be empty. There's a better view of what the Candlelight III Bar looked like before it was boarded up here: LINK. Any more tips or questions can be sent to HarlemBespoke@gmail.com

I walked by here yesterday and the door was open with some folks walking in and out. This interior of this place looks like Europe after World War II. Rubble and debris was piled over my head. Looks like portions of several floors may have collapsed and landed in a pile in the middle of the Candlelight III. I asked one of the guys if it will be a bar again and he responded, "If you want to open a bar come back in six months." So it sounds like they may be fixing it up. Could be an amazing space. Seventh Ave is beautiful along this stretch.
