☞ DWELL: The House at 517 West 152nd Street

The former home of dancer Arthur Mitchell has apparently arrived on the market as of two weeks ago.  Number 517 West 152nd Street had been the Dance Theater of Harlem founder's residence until it was sold back in 2006 as previously note: LINK.  Reportedly at over 20 foot wide, the 3,572 square foot, 3-family house was renovated with modern upgrades (including central air) in the past decade and it looks like that there is a minimalist approach to the interior. This West Harlem location in Hamilton Heights just west of Amsterdam is not the historic district and tends to lack in amenities so the first asking price of $2.5 million will be a good test of the current market.

  1. Not a fan of the interior style but damn I love a mansard roof. They are so appealing, especially if they have the wrought iron gallery on top.

But 2.5 for a three family set-up? Good luck to them, I hope they get it.

  2. Completely charming brick façade and mansard roof, shame it is dwarfed and shadowed by the adjoining buildings. Also, they should relocate the AC units, but they are rental likely units.
