☞ EAT: Harley's Smoke Shack Opens

Harlem's newest BBQ joint has opened up on the east side at East 116th Street.  The location just west of First Avenue has been under construction for most of the summer and has opened within the past weeks.  We definitely like the exterior of the building with with its classic signage and the interior has that roadhouse look one expects from a BBQ eatery.  Has anyone tried it out yet?  Check out the menu and more photos on the Harley's site: LINK

  1. The photo of the Wagon Wheel show what looks like it has the Flag of Treason in its spokes. That give me reason to stay away from this establishment.

  2. Wow that's a terrible website. I wish this was in my neighborhood. While I will walk to El Aguila on Lex to get my Mexican, 1st seems way to far for BBQ. I guess I'll just have to stick with my 7.99 chicken and rib lunch special at Harlem BBQ.

Well as a vegetarian I’m not about to go but I hope the food and prices are good for the rest of y’all. The decor, however, looks like they ordered it by the yard from Generic BBQ Joints, Inc. .

  4. The Ribs and BBQ are phenomenal. In my humble opinion, WAYYYYY BETTER than Dinosaur BBQ. The spare ribs just fall off the bone and the wings/appetizers are excellent. They have a smoker in the kitchen that can fit hundreds of ribs at once, so expect that your meal will be slow cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

  6. 1/29/12 - 4 of us went last night. Surpassed our expectations in every detail. Liam, the manager, Liz, our waitress, and the wonderful hostess. Ordered 2 bbq appetizer plates with those (out of this world) "lollipops" (NY and Texas), wings, baby back ribs, (smoked) salmon with maple syrup glaze and nuts, corn souffle, apple salad perfectly dressed, kale, mac & , fries and High Point Toasted lager. The food smells and looks superb, and tastes heavenly. Delivery to start for Superbowl this Sunday. Run, they "get it", they go all out (unlike some other local upstarts), and you will be happy...

  7. I have been here three times, and I am disappointed with the food. I have order the same food each time so I can be fair with my ratings. The first time the food was so delicious BBQ baby back ribs, a rich mac & cheese and the corn souffle. Yummy! It left me wanting more; HOWEVER, the food has been way below average since their grand opening. BBQ were not tender, mac & cheese taste like it came out of a box and the corn souffle is just a soggy mush. What happened? Did they change cooks? I thought the second time was a bad day for them, but I confirmed it today on my third visit. It is lousy.
