Harlem Bespoke: Another celebrity chef will opening a spot in Harlem and now it appears that Striver Row is the hot neighborhood for new businesses. Eater New York mentions that Russell Jackson had a Bravo TV show and award-winning chef originally started up his fine dining history in San Francisco but has been living in the Strivers Row neighborhood for some time. One of the the empty storefronts at 2598 FDB by the corner of 138th Street will be the address of a new tasting menu eatery with an global menu called Reverence which is set to open in about a month or so. Both Marcuss Samuelsson and Joseph Johnson have been able to make their uptown eateries a destination spot so there is definitely room for more in upper Manhattan.
Other recent arrivals over the years have included Ponty Bistro, Ruby's Vintage and Belle but those restaurants have started up on the Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard side of the landmark neighborhood. Reverence will have a tasing menu set up at $98 per plate with limited seating each night and advance payment reservations made through the official website. This is quite similar to what neighboring restaurant Belle had started up with a couple of years ago but regular service ended up being the order of the day. Awesome. Can't wait to eat here. I've eaten at Russell Jackson's roving underground supper club - and it's amazing.
