☞ DWELL: 547 West 149th Street Brownstone
This Sugar Hill shell (center of top photo), originally represented by Halstead, sold within a week of its listing with the asking price of $725K. West 149th Street between Amsterdam and Broadway is a seamless row of early 20th century brownstones with trees lining the entire block (lower photo). This apparently is the right price to quickly move properties that need a lot of work, so the far reaches of $800k and $900k seem less reasonable these days. This block between Broadway and Amsterdam is easily accessible by taking the 1 train to 145th Street, but the amenities are not many on the under-developed commercial strip of Broadway. For those with a little elbow grease and on the market for a fixer-upper, the location is not so bad since it is only two stops away from 125th Street and one stop from Fairway. See the other Dwell post to compare brownstones in the various neighborhoods: LINK
