☞ READ: Scientific American 1898
During the construction of the West Harlem Viaduct, Scientific American published a cover story on this architectural wonder. The size, scale and design of it had the periodical paper fascinated by its modern engineering and sheer technology for its time. Notice also that there are rolling plains in the background where today's Sugar Hill and Washington Heights are located. Click on the photo to enlarge for detail.
