☞ DRINK: Speakeasy at 1220 Fifth
This Ben Shahn painting features a speakeasy getting closing down for violations in 1934. With the spirit of Prohibition in mind, East Harlem's Museum of the City of New York will today kick off a summer special event, "Speakeasy at 1220 5th Avenue," from 6-9 PM every Wednesday from July 15th to August 26th. Members pay $10 at the door, and non-members shell out $12, which includes a free drink and access to the first floor gallery. A great summer New York date. 1220 5th Avenue between 103rd and 104th Street. Tel.(212) 534-1672. Take the 6 train to 103rd Street. For more information, go to the museum website: LINK
