The limestone and red brick townhouse at 141st Street between Convent and Amsterdam Avenue is thick on the charm, but is it enough in this market to ask for $1.65 million? The positives are that the house is turn-key and is in immaculate condition, and the immediate neighborhood feels like the back streets of the West Village. So what's not to like? Hamilton Heights is a bit further uptown than, and the amenities still are not as smart as, other parts of Harlem further south. It's also a good five minute walk to the A,B,C,D express train at 145th and St. Nicholas or the local 1 train at 137th Street and Broadway. Still, if one has a family that needs room to grow and wants a quiet neighborhood to live in, this might be the best choice for it is a far less expensive townhouse option than the West Village or prime Brooklyn.
This house is truly worth the money. It has a lot of original detail which many others don't. It also has a lot of history and charm as the model house for the Clare Pickens real estate company.
