☞ DWELL: The Savoy West

This adaptive reuse condominium project at 555 Lenox and 138th Street worked wonders on a historic building in Central Harlem. The entire building was gutted a year ago, and brand new apartments in a prewar setting is the final result. It's a little contemporary in the interior but not offensive, and there's the added amenities of a gym and a roof deck. As far as the immediate area is concerned, the good news is that it's on the historic side of Lenox with many brownstone blocks and a few notable local restaurants and the express 2,3 train at 135th Street close by. The other side of Lenox (east) is not as picturesque up here, with a large hospital building taking up most of the block slightly south.
