☞ SEE: New York 400 Streetscapes Exhibit

New York 400: A visual Histor of America's Greatest City, opens September 5 at the Museum of the City of New York in East Harlem. The 400 is the quadricentennial of the city and over 600 pieces of art, photography and prints showing streets scenes have been extracted for a feature book that will coincide with the exhibit. The above painting, showing the Lower East Side when there used to be elevated tracks on the Bowery, reminds us of the far west end and the far east end of 125th Street where above-ground tracks still exist today. Located at 1220 5th Avenue between 103rd and 104th Street. Tel.(212) 534-1672. Take the 6 train to 103rd Street. www.mcny.org
