☞ EAT: The Hungarian Pastry Shop

This Morningside Height institution has been around for over thirty years and is one of those off-campus places that Columbia students remember the most. Situated across from the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the views are spectacular if one can get an outdoor seat on a warm day. The interior still feels like a cafe from the 1970's, but in a warm, inviting, collegiate sort of way. The pastries are above average and the coffee is good enough to come back for more. The Hungarian Pastry Shop is located at 1030 Amsterdam Avenue, between 111th Street and 110th Street. Tel.(212) 866-4230. Take the 1 or B,C to 110th Street. Photo by Paolo Maestrangelo.

  2. It's the only bakery above 110th Street where you can get them.
