☞ ARCHITECTURE: Glass on 96th Street Station
Some time has past since the MTA started building a modern entrance for the 96th Street subway stop on Broadway. It's not actually in Harlem proper, but the 96th Street station is an essential connection hub for all who travel south from West Harlem. The express 2,3 train connects with the local 1 train at this station, so most folks heading to Harlem usually see the underground renovations in process and miss the street level structure taking shape above. We had an errand to run in the area and got the above quick shot of the building at its current state. It definitely has character and looks much better than the original digital drawings. Let's hope they finish quickly so those service delays on the weekends can end sooner than later. Photo by Ulysses
