☞ DWELL: 128 West 111th Street Condos
The general thought on the condo market is that the younger single folk want a hip modern flat in a trendy neighborhood while families and couples who are settled might opt for a more classic type of construction. The new units for sale on 128 West 111th Street might be the right combination of the two for some. Formerly a traditional brownstone, the developers have used the air rights to add some height. Each two-bedroom duplex unit has 1851 square feet of living space, working fireplaces, central air, modern kitchens and baths. The asking price is $1.29 million for those who are interested. In our opinion, modern finishes on the inside are okay if done right, but the exterior is a bit trickier to pull off. Thoughts anyone? The lower photo is what the ground levels looked like this past spring. This building is located between ACP/7th Avenue and St. Nicholas Avenue. Central Park is just one block away along with the 2,3 express train. Photos by Ulysses

YUCK! Pick a style and stick with it... That's a really horrible combination of modern and traditional.
ReplyDeleteI second that. These "high rise" brownstones are hideously ugly and ruin the blocks their on. There's an unfinished one on 123rd near Manhattan Ave that sticks out like a sore thumb, or other appendage of your choice.
ReplyDeleteThe original three-window appendage is beautiful and classic. This modern take definitely a sore-thumb; especially since the bottom is original.
