☞ REVIVE: New Trees for West 117th Street
Walking by West 117th Street this past weekend, we noticed that the city was planting a couple of dozen large trees along both sides of the street between Lenox Avenue and ACP/7th Avenue. There had been smaller saplings planted early in the year, but apparently they didn't do so well. This is really a great initiative for the city since it adds an aesthetic quality to the streets and the trees help reduce carbon dioxide in the air. Let's hope the bigger guys fare better this time around.

That's great news. (I live in the neighborhood on West 119th Street)
ReplyDeleteEighth Avenue (between West 110th to West 125th Street) needs a better streetscape. I wonder if South Harlem has its own neighborhood business association which could work together to come up with something nice?
Happy to see more trees going in. In the summer it is really hot walking from 110 to 125.
ReplyDeletei think the issue with trees on FDB b/w 110th and 125th is the subway line (ABCD) running below
