☞ ARCHITECTURE: The Mt. Morris Park Library
To the west of 5th Avenue, on the northern border of today's Marcus Garvey Park, a small library designed by famed turn-of-the-century architects McKim, Mead and White can be found sitting on the cusp of the Mount Morris Park Historic District. Limestone and lighter color buildings were fashionable when these guys dictated the aesthetics of New York City and the library at 9 West 124th Street, although modest in structure, has the prestigious creamy stone exterior. The library serves as a border to this historic corner since its immediate neighbor to the right is a bit more recent in its designs. The closest train to this corner is the 2,3 line at 125th Street.
