☞ REVIVE: 130-150 West 128th Street

There was a lot of noise and construction going on when we walked by West 128th Street, between ACP and Lenox a couple of days ago. Behind some plywood fencing, we noticed several heavy machinery vehicles dig and pounding away on the south side of the block. At first, we were amazed at the scale of the project since the parcel of land was equal to almost half of the block. It turns out that this was just and open parking lot for years (last photo) and someone finally came up with the idea to create some affordable housing on what is otherwise a huge swath of land. The building will be in the middle of the block in a low rise area so this one should be lower in height if the city has done their planning right. We couldn't find any other information for no. 114-136 West 128th Street but will keep a look out to see what comes along. UPDATE: THIS BUILDING WILL BE CALLED THE DEMPSEY: LINK

  2. That property was part of the school that's behind it on 127th Street. It's owned by the City. However, they (HPD) have filed (and were approved) to split the tax lot in two. The new BIN number is 1813453 (if you want to look it up on the City's web sites).

According to the documents the new building will be a 6 story, 78,000 sq. ft. apartment building. The building appears to be pretty much a simple, rectangular 6 story building (229'x71'). There will be 10 apartments on the ground floor and 14 on the other floors (2-6), so 80 units total.
