☞ INTRODUCING: La Fonda Mexican Restaurant

The replacement for the Jimmy's Diner has finally opened. After a fire closed down the retro East Harlem diner, many assumed that diner's dormant state in 2009 would portend a bigger and better opening of this local eatery. We reported a couple of months back that new signage had been placed on the exterior and that contractors were seen on site working on reviving the space albeit in a different direction. As of last week, the retro diner still looks the same but the new La Fonda Mexican Restaurant has officially opened in its place. The only difference is the menu which apparently has authentic mexican cuisine. We haven't eaten there yet but it looks like it's worth the trip over to the east side. La Fonda Mexican Restaurant is located at 1634 Lexington Avenue, between 103rd and 104th Street. The closest subway is the 6 train at 103rd Street. Photos by Ulysses
