☞ REMEMBER: 953-957 St. Nicholas Avenue

The three houses at the corner of St. Nicholas Avenue and 158th Street still are recognizable from the archival photo taken in 1932. These wood frame houses would have been constructed sometimes during the the 1890's and are one of the last sets of houses found on the Avenue past 155th Street on Harlems north borders. Today, the wood siding on the facades are gone and the brickwork has been recently stuccoed over to have a faux limestone surface. This trio are still a standout after all these years. The nearest subway to this location is the C train at 155th or the 1 train at 157th. Archival photo courtesy NYPL. Current image by Ulysses
