☞ SEE: A Cool Dip in the Barren Saharan Crick

March 4th - April 11th at the Playwrights Horizon Theater. Harlem playwright Kia Corthron has a new Off-Broadway play in previews called A Cool Dip in the Barren Saharan Crick and a special discount is available for Harlem Bespoke readers. The play is about an African preacher-in-training (William Jackson Harper) arrives in drought-stricken rural America intending to further his studies in religion and water conservation. Hosted by a mother (Myra Lucretia Taylor) and daughter (Kianne Muschett) haunted by tragedy, he takes an interest in a young orphan (Joshua King) starved for guidance – all the while maintaining an infectious optimism in the face of his obstacles. Undaunted, the preacher determines to battle – by any means necessary – the personal and political forces that threaten the ecology of his new home. Also features: Keith Eric Chappelle.
