☞ REVIVE: The Legacy of CBJ Snyder Lecture

Monday, April 12th, from 7:30 PM. A Revolution in Public-School Design:The Legacy of Charles B. J. Snyder will be presented by guest lecturer Jean Arrington at the Community Board 9 Landmarks Committee Meeting in Hamilton Heights. This historical presentation will take place at the Broadway Housing conference room at 583 Riverside Drive between 136th and 137th Street. Ms Arrington has spent considerable effort on researching the life and work of Charles Snyder who designed the most architecturally significant school buildings in the city over a century ago. Some of the Harlem schools have been maintained in good condition (above) but many community members at CB9 have been trying to get the abandoned PS 186 on 145th Street landmarked so that it it too can be restored appropriately. Read more about PS 186 in our past post: LINK. The closest subway to this location is the 1 train at 137th Street. Photo by Ulysses.
