☞ EAT: Gong Modern Thai
East Harlem's modern Thai restaurant is a little gem hidden on one of the more quaint side streets. The tight quarters of Gong on East 99th Street between Lexington and 3rd Avenue is a good example of how basic design elements can make the most mundane space welcoming. The wainscot windows, exposed brick walls and brightly painted yellow exterior gives this tiny eatery an Asian colonial but updated feel. Folks rave about the food and the decent prices so this one is also worth checking out. Gong is located at 173 East 99th Street, Telephone 212.360.5876. The nearest subway is the 6 train at 96th Street. Photo by Ulysses. gongnyc.com

Saw the post. Read the menu. Tried to order. They only deliver to 109th. A 10 block delivery zone?!!? Somebody should tell them that this model won't work uptown. Mentioned this to the guy on the phone and he couldn't care less. It's a real shame for those of us who actually live IN Harlem. Looks like another wannabe-UES joint. I love Harlem Bespoke, but this isn't the first time that an abundance of optimism has led this site to promote places that don't actually serve it's namesake. Don't worry though - still love ya, just disappointed about this post. Oh well...
ReplyDeleteI agree thats not Harlem that's the Upper East Side.
ReplyDeleteEast Harlem officially starts at 96th Street, East of 5th Avenue. If businesses below 100th Street deliver further uptown is an entirely different story.
ReplyDeleteUlysses said nothing about their delivery service, he posted about the food and decor.
ReplyDeleteI am sure you will survive this less-than-major disappointment.
