☞ REMEMBER: 141 West 115th Street Circa 1941
The church just around the corner from St. Nicholas Avenue and 115th Street looks practically the same today as it did in 1941 (top photo). There are no dramatic spires or turrets on this one but the repetition of the large circular windows are pretty impressive. This block at the south region of Harlem is pretty intact and the church looks to be in pretty good shape. From the old photo, one can find a Celtic-looking cross engraved above the doorway which is hidden by an awning today. Currently, the building is the home of the Memorial Baptist Church. The nearest subway to this location is the 2,3 at 116th Street. Archival photo courtesy NYPL. Current photos by Ulysses
