☞ SEE: Diversity Day at Jackie Robinson Park

Saturday, May 22nd, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM at the Jackie Robinson Park Bandshell. Celebrate Diversity Day festival promises something for everybody! The organizers, mostly individual and grass-root organizations from the community, announced today that they are including poetry to complement an already stellar line of live music performances and artistic exhibition that reflect the collective beauty of our cultural origins and the value of our diversity in New York City. This event is an appeal to stop racial and ethnic violence in NYC. Performances include Chinese waist drum group, New York African Chorus Ensemble, Japanese Reggae, Latin band, Southern Folk music, Rock group and many more.

Jackie Robinson Park is between West 145th and West 155th Street at Bradhurst Avenue. The closest train to this location is the A,B,C,D at 145th Street. Get more details at the Diversity Day Festival site: LINK

  1. Curious, why is it that this park can be recognized as J.R. Park ('78) and not Colonial Park, yet Marcus Garvey Park ('73) can't get the same recognition?

  2. Note that events at Marcus Garvey Park are named as such on Harlem Bespoke. The neighborhood around the park is called the Mount Morris Park Historic District which pretty much is the topic of most of our stories pertaining to that neighborhood. See our past post on the Marcus Garvey Park Gates and the Marcus Garvey Park Amphitheater for stories relating to the park.

    There are some archival post showing the parks from the 1940's and in those situations we reference the names used at the time period.
