It's no secret that the new Dinosaur Bar-B-Que on 125th Street and 12th Avenue has been delayed, and we recently got some inside intel on when it will actually open. Since Columbia University plans to demolish the building that the famous BBQ joint currently resides in (a couple of blocks north), the establishment that is arguably the best of its kind uptown, was planning to move to its new location sometimes in the early spring. We have been informed that the folks working at the current location have advised that the new space has been ready to move into since May. Unfortunately for them, the city started construction on the sewer lines out front (lower photo) in the early spring and this is pushing back the grand opening to September.
The top photos were taken of the interior space this past holiday weekend and they confirm that the new space still has a lot of the original Dinosaur character to it. These guys must go through salvage yards to get that vintage look to everything. In the meantime, the old space at 646 West 131st Street still looks just as cool so head over early or get a reservation if you don't want to wait for an hour. The nearest train to this location is the 1 at 125th Street. Photos by Ulysses
Or eat at the bar, which usually has no wait.
ReplyDeleteThe non-reserve corner tables in the alcove in front of the bar also clears up quickly.
