☞ REVIVE: Chez Lucienne's New Look
We saw that Chez Lucienne was starting their new renovations early this week and it looks like they are just about finishing up as of this morning. Harlem's French eatery on Lenox, between 125th and 126th Street, is going for a classic bistro, saffron yellow color scheme and is adding a neutral touch with the warm browns in the new awning. As one reader pointed out, a restaurant with a possible red theme will be opening next door in the next few months so it probably was best to get rid of the original crimson exterior. Looks good so far. Photo by Ulysses

I really like this yellow french door frontage, and with Red Rooster, maybe with a big red awning, this block will present itself as colorful and enticing for diners. I hope Red Rooster has alfresco dining also, it is turning into quite a block.
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful ...
ReplyDeleteLooks great. Does anyone know if they are revamping food or service as well? Its an ok place, but I've had one too many bad meal there... it should be a lot better - and it would be packed every night if they could get it right...
ReplyDeleteI DO hope this place is a success because it's right off my block and good for the neighborhood. However, I would never go back there again. I was there with my mother and moved tabled because we were in a noisy spot. When we were leaving, we noticed that her $50 Hermes scarf was missing. We left it at the other table -- but staff had cleared it away and chucked it. Stupidity!
ReplyDeleteanon 4:02-they are packed every night.
ReplyDeleteanon 5.41 - not on the past 5 or 6 times I have eaten there on weekdays... 1/4 to 2/3 full at best.
ReplyDeleteJust look at the reviews on Yelp, or similar, to see how variable it is.
Which is a real shame, as there are so few alternatives... and I would go there all the time if they could keep the quality up.
Did the name change?
ReplyDelete7:58 - The "Bistro Provencal" is a descriptor. The name Chez Luciennes is still there, though barely visible on the awning (at least in this photo). Their execution was perhaps unduly confusing...
ReplyDeleteThis color/design scheme is almost identical, right down to the "Bistro Provencal" descriptor on the awning, to the recently revamped scheme of Cafe du Soleil, on bway and 104. Do the two establishments share an owner or something?
ReplyDeleteYes, I think it is investors with same manager (French Family, live in Harlem), also have Angelina's Pizza on Broadway.
