☞ WALK: Parakeets in Marcus Garvey Park?
While we were doing the rounds earlier this week, this little guy was seen hanging around the north east side of Marcus Garvey Park. A yellow parakeet (?) was just kind of hanging out by the fence slightly south of the dog run. It was pretty relaxed since it didn't mind a close up photography session. We walked to the corner and another yellow flutter swooped down from a nearby tree. Did someone lose their pets? Green parrots have made Brooklyn their home in the past few years but this doesn't look like one those birds. See the Brooklyn Parrots blog for an example the city's new avian neighbors: BrooklynParrots.com. Photo by Ulysses

This little guy is definitely an escapee. He can probably survive the summer but not the cold weather. Hopefully he will find an open window to fly into and the folks inside will take care of him.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, we see a lot of escaped budgies around this time of year all over the city.
