Tuesdays and Saturdays, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM at Jackie Robinson Park. The rumors are true that a third Harlem farmers' market has opened at Jackie Robinson Park on 145th Street. The only difference with this market is that it will be held twice a week and we saw Alex's Tomato Farm set up at the front of the park yesterday. Like the recently opened market at Marcus Garvey Park, this one also accepts food stamps so it is accessible to all in the neighborhood.
The Jackie Robinson Park Farmers' Market is located on West 145th Street, between Edgecombe and Bradhurst Avenue. The closest train to this location is the A,B,C,D at 145th Street. Go to the City Farms site for more information: www.JustFood.org. Photos by Ulysses
This market has been here at least since the summer of 2008 (my first summer in the neighborhood). I walked past yesterday morning and the beets looked fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThe market was started by Sonya Simmons of Simmons Gallery which recently closed across Edgecombe. This market has been here since at least 2008. It is small, but we often find something fresh and ripe to take home.
ReplyDeleteOne more Historic Harlem Park is all that is left for a farmer's market to be in each one. St. Nicholas Park needs one desperately. It would be perfect in their plaza.
