☞ READ: Surveillance Cameras & Public Housing
The Uptowner (the Columbia Grad School newspaper) recently reported on how some of the major public housing complexes are getting an upgrade in surveillance cameras. A total of 256 cameras will have been installed by November at the Manhattaville, Grant and St. Nicholas Houses with the most recent batch financed by $2.5 million in funding secured by Councilwoman Inez Dickens. Apparently most residents are happy about it since even minor petty crimes in the elevators have already been mitigated as a direct result: LINK
