☞ BESPOKE: The Bishop's Crook Lamp Posts

Probably one of the most well preserved lamp posts in the city's brownstone neighborhoods are the ones call the Bishop's Crook but unfortunately not many are found uptown.  The top photo shows the curved decorative lamp post around Mount Morris Park West but one can see in the lower photo that the side street has the basic aluminum ones still in place.  This past summer, the Friends of Morningside Park had worked with local politicians to have some classic long-armed, cast iron lamps posted along Morningside Park and that neighborhood isn't even landmarked: LINK.  We're not sure what it takes to make this happen but one would think any landmark block would require lamps that reflect the aesthetic of the surroundings.

  2. There are a set of lights at the end of Malcolm X Blvd on the approach to Macombs Dam Bridge that look even older, but they are in poor condition.
