☞ EAT: Red Rooster Set for Previews

We definitely were suspicious when all the Help Wanted signs (at center photo) recently went down from the Red Rooster restaurant just north of 125th Street and there was more to come.  The top photo shows groups of people walking in and out of the restaurant yesterday in the late afternoon and we even saw various chefs in white uniforms entering the premise at 310 Lenox Avenue.  Then there were the big trucks with the crew that were moving furniture inside (lower photo) which included some nice bentwood cafe chairs but the round tables look of the temporary sort.  Walking by the entranceway as the restaurant was being loaded, one could see the new bar directly out front and what looked like decorative autumnal trees set up in the background. Chef Marcus Samuelsson was also seen slipping out of the restaurant at one point.

Guessing that there was some sort of private preview event happening, we swung by around 6:30 PM last night and saw that the lights were on inside (brown craft paper still up on the window) and a couple of doormen standing by a velvet rope setup.  The restaurant is probably just finished enough to have private events but the public opening might not happen until sometimes later in November.
