☞ INTRODUCING: Harlem's Changing Economy
We didn't get around to working the other layers of the census map from 2005-2009 data that the New York Times introduced last week but Curbed just posted an example that shows the largest change in income for various parts of greater Harlem: LINK. The above screen represents area code 10027 and the darkest yellow color indicates areas with an over 20% percent increase in household income and the darkest blue areas represents the opposite (click image to enlarge for detail). Interestingly enough, it looks like Manhattanville and lower Hamilton Heights towards Broadway seems to be the largest area that's not thriving but the new Columbia campus might affect that in the coming years. The Times site also rates incomes per household, education level, etc. for those who are interested: LINK. As previously comfirmed, this does not reflect the more concise 2010 Census data which will be released sometimes in 2011.
