☞ REVIVE: 260 West 121st Brick Exposed
When the gray-painted brick and brownstone townhouse at 260 WEst 121st Street was sold back in September (lower photo), we didn't expect the changes to happen so quickly on its renovations. The gray painted building was part of a group of six houses on the block just east of St. Nicholas avenue that have duplicate designs. We initially thought the said house might have been torn down recently since now only red brick buildings remained but realized that the new owners have stripped all the paint away at the top levels to reveal the original surface underneath (top photo). This house now matches the 4 remaining ones on the block (one is missing to the right) that must have been built by the same architect. The parlour level is the only thing left and will probably be restored to its original brownstone color if the intent is to match up all the other like buildings.
