☞ SHOP: Fine Fare Arriving at 41 Lenox
There was a lot of conversation last month on what was to become of the shabby Shop Fair market retail space at 41 Lenox (on the corner of 112th Street) and it looks like Fine Fare supermarket will be arriving to take its place. A reader gave us the tip as a followup from our previous post last night and it turns out to be all true: LINK. There's also another relatively new Fine Fare up the Avenue at 116th Street but 4 blocks is a lot to go out of the way for most New Yorkers. We are definitely glad that corner is getting a makeover but would rather have the entire building restored to its original state: LINK

What is Fine Fair? Feel like this is a prime spot more suitable for a higher end retail.
ReplyDeleteThe trouble is there are a lot of people in public housing next door who can't afford a "fancier" grocery store. Yes there are some new condos but especially along Lenox there is more money from 116-125th (and those blocks above right above 125 as well) than 110-116th. A Fine Fair is definitely a step up from what used to be there. But yes, Chris, a beautiful location.
ReplyDeleteChris dont be too down on Fine Fare. the one on 117th and lenox is nicer (and bigger) than most of the food emporiums downtown.
ReplyDeleteFine Fare is barely passable. What is unfortunate is that if Fine Fare signed a long term lease then I assume that there will be no further improvement/reconstruction of the entire property; it will remain an eyesore for years to come.
ReplyDeleteThere was a Fine Fare near where I lived on the LES. It was HORRIBLE. I only went there if it was a dire emergency.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I know the place Henry. Not awful I suppose, but what MarkM says is spot on. Gwin, I think I have been in the one on the LES and it was absolutely filthy. Just b/c you are catering to peeps with less money, doesn't make it alright to skip on cleanliness etc.
ReplyDeleteThe Fine Fare on 117th & Lenox is big, clean and decent....check it out, you'll definitely same some bucks on a bunch of staple foods compared to Best Buy (which I like too).
