There was crew gutting the ground floor shop of 18 East 125th Street (between 5th and Madison) this past weekend and this had us wondering if the space has been finally leased. The old hand-painted signage out front for the antique store was always kind of cool but the space seemed to have been vacant for some time. Signs went up in the past few months that storefront was available to lease so either something new is coming along or the owner is just cleaning things up. We couldn't find the most recent permit up on the DOB site so its unclear what's going on. Does anyone have any inside info? The new Uptown Juice Bar is arriving at No. 14 East 125th next door so this corner of the retail strip is starting to get its act together:
