☞ EAT: Mexican Eats in Central Harlem

We had written about all the architecturally interesting Mexican restaurants that have opened up in East Harlem over the past few years startups in Central Harlem seem to be having a difficult time getting things right.  Media Luna at 132nd Street and ACP/7th Avenue reportedly had decent offerings but the exterior was probably not the most attractive facade solution to be had uptown. The eatery appears to have been open for about a year but one can see that the lower photo now shows that the space is currently up for lease.  Mexican is pretty affordable food fare and also rare in Central Harlem so we are just guessing that the space itself needed the extra effort to get things moving.  Check out the East Harlem Mexican restaurant counterparts from our past post for some better choices: LINK.  For South Harlem, Lolita's Cafe at Lenox and 112th is actually a pretty good alternative to have around: LINK

  1. I went there three times for lunch to go. The food was so-so at best, certainly never anything to get excited about. And it took forever. I generally waited 20-30 minutes to get lunch to go. Each time I was there, the place was completely empty, and it was really dingy inside. Last time I went there, I resolved it would be the last time I went there - I'm not sorry to see this one go.
