☞ DWELL: 56 West 124th Sold in January

The former shell at 56 West 124th Street between Mt. Morris Park West and Lenox sold back in January for $953.8K.  A note of interest is that the building appears to have been bought in a foreclosure auction back in 2005 (deed transfer indicates $500 for the transaction) when the original owner failed to renovate the 19 foot wide brownstone.  At the lower photo, one can see the former SRO missing a stoop and in a near gutted state. Today, this corner of the block is fully renovated (top photo) with No. 56 being converted into a 3-family building and the previous developer even replicated the top cornice to match the one next door. Unfortunately, the two buildings directly west of the brownstone chose not to do the same.
