There have been quite a few page views in the past 24 hours of an old Harry Houdini post from a couple of years back so this had us wondering what all the fuss was about. Usually Halloween is the time of year when folks try to seek out the famous magician's Harlem house at West 113th Street (lower photo) but today's auspicious date is apparently Mr. Houdini's 137th birthday. Harry Houdini was born on March 24th, 1874 and would become a Harlem resident by 1904 after purchasing the above townhouse. The archival photos are some images from 1913 that show the escape artist's famous water cell trick but those who want to know more about the Houdinis of Harlem should check out our original post that happens to be very popular on this very day: LINK. Dorothy Young, the last surviving stage assistant of Houdini died yesterday at the age of 103.
